Jasper in Winter

<For Jasper Winter Activity Information Click HERE>

It is winter time in Jasper. Almost a foot of snow in town and more in the mountains. Days are short but getting longer, with sunrise around 08:00 a.m. and setting about 6:00 p.m. Daytime temperatures are generally near -5'C (23'F), but can be 10' degrees cooler and then drop even more overnight.

Summer activities such as Tramway and Glacier Tours, Rafting and Hot Springs are closed. Downhill skiing is open at Marmot Basin.  They have a 100 cm base and all runs are open, and in good shape. Skiing will improve if there is more snow.   Cross country skiing opportunities available throughout the park.  There are also designated snow-shoe trails.  Lakes have frozen over and skating is nice on the outdoor oval at Mildred Lake.

Bears are hibernating and won't be seen until spring. Elk and deer are seen in town and have their thick winter coats.  Some lakes and rivers are open for fishing. Sheep seen regularly along the highway.

Town is moderately busy and everyone is enjoying the seasonal weather.

Hope to see you here.
